The Intake Air Bypass Solenoid (IAB) operates the dual intake runners found in the Stock 94-01 Integra and H22 intake manifolds. These intake manifolds have a short and a long intake runner for each cylinder within the intake manifold. At lower RPMs the longer runners are used, while at higher RPMs the shorter are used. The IAB solenoid controls when vacuum is supplied to the IAB diaphram thus opening up the secondaries to the shorter intake runners. The ECU controls the IAB solenoid to achieve optimum low RPM torque while still permitting high RPM horsepower.
